Parents for Public Schools of Pitt County has a wealth of experience and passion on our Board of Directors. One of the hardest tasks for any non profit board to handle is the transition of board members. It is so hard to let go of great board members who bring valuable talent and resources to the table. However, this transition allows us to keep fresh ideas flowing and helps the organization remain vibrant and healthy. We are happy to welcome four new board members to PPS-PC!

Maria Bright: Maria is fairly new to Pitt County and a graduate of our most recent Parent Engagement Program co hort. She is the mother of a JH Rose Freshman. Maria is a passionate advocate and wants to help give a voice to all who may not feel as though they have one.

Katie Gilbert: When Katie and her family first moved to Greenville, Katie was most invested in learning about school options for their son, who was a Junior in high school. She worked with Parents for Public Schools of Pitt County to arrange a tour of DH Conley High School, and ultimately became an engaged parent there. Katie  has been a dedicated volunteer with Parents for Public Schools since first connecting, and hopes to help other families learn more about the area and our public schools.

KaSheta Jackson: Kasheta is a graduate of the most recent Parent Engagement Program co hort. She has been an engaged parent at both Eastern Elementary and CM Eppes and now serves on the PTA at CM Eppes. KaSheta has already been an active board member by connecting Parents for Public Schools of Pitt County to opportunities to increase our presence in the community,  particularly as she arranges Vidant Community Health fairs in more rural areas of the county.

Trent McGee: Trent was recently named the Interim President of the Greenville-Pitt County Chamber of Commerce. As a founding partner of Parents for Public Schools of Pitt County, the Chamber president holds a standing seat on the PPS-PC Board of Directors. Trent is excited that his role on the board allows him to be actively engaged in the efforts to enhance Pitt County Schools and remain involved in public school advocacy and reform.
