Most frequently asked back to school question: “When is the Open House at my child’s school?”
Pitt County Schools’ Open Houses are scheduled for Thursday August 22, 2019.
Elementary School Open Houses are from 4 pm-6:30 pm.
Middle School and K-8 School Open Houses are from 5 pm-7:30 pm.
High School Open Houses are from 6 pm-8:30 pm.
Open houses are designed to help you get off to a good start each year by offering you the opportunity to walk around the building, meet teachers and principals and get a jump on paperwork and extracurriculars. It can be a little overwhelming, especially if it is your first time attending at that school.
So do a bit of preplanning before you attend: make a list of places you want to visit and people you want to connect with while you are there. Examples might include meeting teachers your child will have this year (your child may also want to visit teachers from years past), specials/encore teachers, coaches or the location of classrooms and club meeting rooms.
Also consider the “business” you might need to take care of. Do you need to find out where the car rider drop off line is, or show your child where the bus will drop him/her off? Do you need to purchase spirit wear for your child? Sign up for clubs and extracurriculars? Finally, make sure you get involved as a parent: stop by the PTA table to sign up for the year, and bring a friend with you to the PPS-PC table and encourage him/her to sign up to receive our free monthly newsletter (the newsletter you are reading right now because YOU signed up).
