I want to serve on the Pitt County Board of Education because I am passionate about making sure all children have access to the highest quality education. Where some see limitations, I see great potential. Where some fear change, I see opportunity waiting to happen. However, I want to make sure the voices of all those impacted are included. We should not make decisions about people without them.

Pitt County has been home for 22 years. My husband and I have 3 children who all attend Pitt County Public Schools. One recently graduated from JH Rose Highschool in May 2022! I moved to Greenville, North Carolina in 2000 to join colleagues at East Carolina University in writing and launching the first nationally accredited doctoral program in Medical Family Therapy. With almost 50 graduates since 2008, the program is a tremendous success! I am also a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist trained to work with individuals, couples, families, and systems to achieve the changes they seek. My record volunteering in our community, as well as working in pre-k, elementary, middle, high schools, and early college settings stands on its own. I will be bringing that same work ethic, collaborative skill set, compassion, and tenacity used throughout my career to the Pitt County Board of Education! My mission is to support Pitt County Schools in innovating, elevating, and growing. I will advocate for each child and teacher to learn and work in safe well supported schools with the resources needed to thrive.
