I am a mother of two Pitt County Schools children, and also have 20 years of teaching experience within public education. My children have been in the public schools of Pitt County since Kindergarten. As a parent as well as an educator, I am able to have a viewpoint that allows me to make sound decisions with multiple perspectives in mind.
I have met many wonderful people who work in our school system, all of whom put our children first. Our teachers, staff, administrators, and senior staff are all thoughtful, caring, and committed, and if selected to serve another term on the Board of Education, I will continue to build relationships with them in ways that continue to put our children first.
If re-elected, my top priority will be to continue to work on increasing teacher supplements. In order to attract highly qualified teachers (especially with the teacher shortage crisis), we must work to prioritize this critical need. We want to competitively attract the best teachers, allowing our children to have the best educational experience.
I believe visiting schools and seeing their accomplishments first hand allows me to remain connected to the needs and successes of our schools. I am always open to receiving emails and phone calls, and give timely attention to each person who connects with me. I am dedicated to working together to find solutions.
I am qualified for this position. I have voted in favor of increasing teacher supplements, keeping students in person during COVID (as much as we could), and not banning books from our libraries to name a few. I will ALWAYS put the needs of our children first over politics. I believe in doing what is best for all the students of PCS, not just my district. I listen and am not easily swayed. I research all possible outcomes before deciding how I will cast my vote.
I want to be your voice for PCS for another term. I have much to offer as we look out for the best interests of our students. If re-elected, I will be a voice for parents, students, and teachers, and will do all I can to create the best environment for everyone at the educational table.
