We had a great time at Kindergarten 101 and are ready to continue the momentum as we continue our PEP Academy workshops. We are so excited to partner with Digging for Diversity on March 1st at 6:30pm at the Alice Keene Community and Schools building. Digging for Diversity is a group of DH Conley High School students who are learning about diversity, equity, and inclusion and finding ways to build unity within our community. They’ll lead the presentation on March 1, sharing with us some projects they have already completed (community gardens with students from South Greenville Elementary School for example), brainstorming how the community could support their efforts, and giving a presentation with suggestions for how they have noticed that we as a community can be more inclusive.

As Parents for Public Schools of Pitt County continues our commitment to equity, we are excited to learn more from these students. As parents and community members who are seeking to create high quality public education for our students, it is important that we take moments to step back and learn from the students themselves as they share ideas about strategies that will increase the quality of their learning. We know that when students feel included in the classroom, and in their community, they are better able to retain and engage with academic information. We are so excited about the opportunity to partner with Digging for Diversity next month and hope you will join us!
