On August 17th PPS-PC, in partnership with The Daily Reflector and ENC Pirate Reality – Allen Tate Companies, hosted the 2024 Stuff the Bus School Supply Drive at the 10th Street Walmart. Thank you to the partner organizations who helped make this year’s event successful! Thank you to every donor for supporting Pitt County Schools through donating school supplies. Over 9,700 items were donated making this year the largest number of items donated in the history of the event! A huge thank you to all of the volunteers who helped at the event passing out flyers to patrons entering the store, counting and sorting the items, and loading them onto the school bus. Thank you to Walmart for allowing organizations like PPS-PC to use the space in front of the store and invite patrons to support PCS.

Donated items were counted, sorted and loaded onto a school bus during the event. The following Monday volunteers helped to unload all of the donated school supplies at the PCS social workers’ office. Social workers will be able to take those supplies to the schools and students who need them.

Lead School Social Worker Kim Anderson said, “The Stuff the Bus program benefits students by providing them with essential school supplies, ensuring they have the tools needed to participate fully in their education. This support helps to boost their confidence, engagement, and overall academic performance. The supplies are a great help to all students. Stuff the Bus school supplies are prioritized for students based on immediate needs while ensuring equitable distribution across schools.”
