Life transitions can be challenging but also provide new opportunities. Do you have a child or know someone who has a child who will be five years old by August 31, 2023? Kindergarten is a significant life transition for both a child and parent or caregiver.
The transition to Kindergarten is filled with questions. Which school district is my home in? What Elementary Schools are open enrollment? What do I need to do to register for Kindergarten? What if my child has health or dietary challenges? What can I be doing to prepare my child to start Kindergarten?
If you have asked one or more of these questions, please save the date for one of our upcoming Kindergarten 101 seminars. In January Parents for Public Schools of Pitt County will host the sixth annual Kindergarten 101 Seminars. Kindergarten 101 is designed for family members and caregivers of rising kindergarten students. To accommodate busy schedules, we offer one seminar during the day and the same seminar in the evening. This seminar is especially helpful if this is the first time you have a child or family member entering Kindergarten or if it has been multiple years since you’ve navigated a transition to Kindergarten
To help prepare both adults and children for kindergarten we invite several guests to come and share with you how to make that transition a more positive experience for both you and your loved one. During the seminar you will hear from experts including

PCS Director of K – 5 PCS Elementary School Administrator
PCS School Health Program representative Local pediatrician
PCS School Nutrition representative Kindergarten parent
In addition to hearing from these guests, Kindergarten 101 will also have a question and answer session to provide you the opportunity to ask any questions you have.
