Family engagement is key to helping children thrive. The Parent Engagement Program, PEP, has been one of the core programs PPS-PC offers since the chapter launched in 2013. PEP is designed to increase positive parent engagement and enhance school-parent collaboration. PPS-PC offers a variety of PEP opportunities including PEP Cohorts which primarily focuses on K-12 education, Early Childhood Development (ECD) PEP Cohorts and PEP Workshops such as Kindergarten 101. Over 100 individuals have participated in a PEP Cohort in the last 10 years.

“The Parent Engagement Program became a doorway to being engaged not only in my child’s education, but within Pitt County Schools. I’m so grateful for all that I learned and the connections I’ve made since my cohort. The connections I’ve made and the experience I’ve had is invaluable. The knowledge I’ve gained will help me advocate for not only my children, but all children and public education.”  Erin Perkins, 2020-2021 PEP Cohort Graduate

PCS Engage is a partnership between PPS-PC, Pitt County Educational Foundation and Pitt County Schools designed to support and enhance family engagement. PCS Engage meetings provide attendees the opportunity to learn about best practices, to share resources with each other and support to schools who are starting a parent engagement group. The next PCS Engagement meeting is via zoom on December 4th from 5:30 – 6:30. Interested in learning more about PCS Engage?
