Caroline Doherty attended public schools in Goldsboro and is married with one daughter, a PCS 2017 graduate. She currently works in rural health care administration. She has been a Girl Scout leader for 13 years, is a member of Greenville Noon Rotary, and is on the vestry of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.  She is a member of the Pitt County Education Foundation MiniGrant Committee, the NC School Boards Trust Board, and was the school board representative on the COP Advisory Committee for Every Student Succeeds Act in NC.

She has served on the Pitt County BOE since 2015, is past EPS Committee chair and past chair of the Board. She currently serves on the BOE Policy Committee.  She has served in several PTA roles in PCS elementary, middle and high schools, including President, VP, Treasurer, and School Improvement Team member.

She considers school safety a top priority, especially identifying students who are struggling and finding ways to get the social supports they need, and funding SROs in every school.  Student growth and achievement is another top priority, especially rewarding teachers who achieve results by putting them in leadership positions where they stay in the classroom and share their methods with other teachers.  Finding ways to further expand Career and Technical opportunities so every student graduates with marketable skills is another top priority.
