I have worked in education for over 20 years. I hold a MA in HumanServices and a BS in Business Education. I am currently the Program Administrator for the Antioch DPAP Afterschool Program.
Top 2 priorities for action on the Board of Education:
-To improve the out of school suspension rate with support of programs to identify and redirect disruptive behaviors of at risk youth.
-To seek more ways to educate school staff on cultural sensitivity in their interactions with at risk youth.
To ensure equal access to learning for undocumented students and other students who face possible discrimination from students, school personnel, or others schools should know and comply with state laws on undocumented students and others who face possible discrimination and ensure their safety by not requiring them to provide no more than the necessary documentation to support public school enrollment.
I do not support allowing trained teachers to be armed in classrooms.
