Hi, my name is Amy Cole and I am running for the Board of Education District 2 seat. I am a mom of two boys, Tyler and Braeden. They both attend Pitt County public schools. My youngest attends HB Sugg and my oldest attends Farmville Middle. I am also a product of a public school education. I graduated from ECU with my undergraduate degree in mathematics. I then went on to pursue a masters degree (also from ECU) in mathematics education. I taught high school for 5 years, including JH Rose HS here in Pitt County before getting my current job as an instructor at Pitt Community College.

I decided to run for the Board of Education seat to be an advocate for my children and to learn more about the deciding factors that affect my kids’ education. I feel like I have a unique perspective different from any current board member because not only have I taught in the public schools, I also have children in the public schools and I now teach higher education so I know what our high school graduates need to succeed. Thank you for your time.
