Did you know that Pitt County Schools employs 16 school social workers who are in all 38 Pitt County Schools on a regular basis? From helping a child deal with grief after the loss of a loved one, to helping a family experiencing homelessness get the resources they need, to encouraging strong attendance goals and providing resources that help families and students meet those goals, to connecting students with mental health services, to organizing crisis teams after natural disasters or unexpected tragedies, these employees are true super heroes in our schools each day.

In light of our current situation, we know that social workers are working very hard to identify which families are in need and provide information and resources for them. Every school in Pitt County has an assigned social worker. March is social worker appreciation month, and we encourage you to take a moment this month to reach out and tell our social workers how much they are appreciated. Even if you have never utilized their services, let them know you appreciate them being there should you ever need them. If you do not know who your school social worker is, please email our Executive Director at kdibble@ppspittcounty.org and she can provide you with the name and email address of your school social worker.
