Have your children enjoyed the free breakfast and lunch provided by our schools this year? Good news! The schools have received funding that allows them to continue to provide free breakfast and lunch for all children ages 1-18 (not just PCS students) through the last day of the school year.

Not only does this service provide nutrition for children, but schools receive federal reimbursement funding for every meal picked up, so when you pick up a meal, you are not only providing for a child, but you are also meeting school funding needs. Also, take note that PCS is now offering meal pick ups on Saturday, December 19, providing breakfast and lunch for Saturday and Sunday. In addition, meals will be available during winter break on December 21 and December 28. A box with 7 breakfasts and 7 lunches will be provided for each child on these dates.

Children or prepared meal cards should be present at pick up. To learn more about curbside pick up sites and times, visit the Pitt School Nutrition Services Facebook page, the Parents for Public Schools of Pitt County Facebook page, or reach out to us and we will get the information to you.

Also keep in mind that if your family may qualify for free and reduced lunch, they should fill out an application this year, even though meals are free. This will make it easier to receive free and reduced meals should that be needed in the future, and it will also help schools qualify for other important funding, such as Title I funding. Information about applications can be found here. Finally, as we think about thanking those who work in the schools, don’t forget to thank those amazing cafeteria workers!
