If you are on Facebook, you know that social media challenges are plentiful. Whether it’s the classic ice bucket challenge from a few years ago, or the recent 10 year challenge, folks love to participate in an interesting challenge! As we all know, this year has been a challenge in itself for parents, educators, media coordinators, administrators, nutrition workers, bus drivers, custodians, and more. We are all feeling the challenges of a 3rd school year in a pandemic.

In response to all these challenges, we hope you’ll join Parents for Public Schools of Pitt County in our own local, positive Facebook challenge. And if you help us share it enough, it does not have to stay local! Here’s the challenge: between now and February 14, do something kind for any school employee. Post a picture of your act of kindness on social media (people can be in the picture, but do not have to be), tag Parents for Public Schools of Pitt County, and use the hashtag #thankaschoolemployee.

Your act of kindness could be for a teacher, a bus driver, a Covid contact worker, a nutrition worker, a media coordinator, a teacher assistant, someone in our county office, or anyone who works for Pitt County Schools. The possibilities are endless for acts of kindness. You and your child can write a note, draw a picture, paint a kindness rock, give a gift card, deliver lunch, send a favorite snack, candy, or drink, and the list goes on. Or, collaborate with a group of parents to increase the impact. Be creative!

Let’s see how many acts of kindness Pitt County Schools’ parents can complete, and how far we can make our kindness challenge travel. #thankaschoolemployee
