This time of year we at Parents for Public Schools feel both celebratory and sad about our interns moving on. A little known fact about PPS is that all the work we do is accomplished with one staff member, a volunteer board of directors, and three energetic interns. These interns give a significant amount of their time to Parents for Public Schools. Throughout the year, you undoubtedly have seen DeVont’e Arrington, Christine Ellwood, and Maggie Golden representing PPS-PC in our community, at community fairs, community conversations, and school tours.  You’ve also seen their behind-the-scenes work through Facebook posts, fundraising efforts, and communications. They also compile data from school tours and community conversations and make sure you receive the newsletter when you sign up for it. Our chapter truly benefits from the selfless dedication our interns give to us week after week.

We’d like to say a special thank you to each of our interns as move on to their next chapter. We are forever grateful for the growth they have been a part of here at PPS-PC. We would like to congratulate DeVont’e Arrington, who will graduate with a Master of Social Work from ECU, and already has a job lined up pursuing his dream of working with prison inmates in Spartanburg, South Carolina. We are also so happy for Maggie Golden, who will graduate with a Bachelor of Communications from ECU and already has several job interviews lined up. And we wish Christine Ellwood the very best as she completes one more semester of clinicals for her degree at Pitt Community College. The good news is that Christine will be with us for one more semester of internship with PPS-PC in the fall. We wish all our treasured interns a bright and successful future and hope you will each take a piece of PPS-PC with you wherever you go!
