
PPS-PC Welcomes Christopher Jones, Spring 2025 ECU School of Social Work Intern –
Chris is currently studying social work and is in their final semester. They will receive a bachelor’s degree in social work along with a minor in psychology at the end of the semester. After graduation, they plan to return to ECU to pursue a master’s degree, also in social work. They are looking forward to a career in child therapy.
They are excited to be working with PPS for their internship, where their primary goal is to gain valuable work experience with parents and further their efforts to advocate for public education in the area. Some of their hobbies and interests include the psychoanalysis of individuals, creative writing, and music.
PCS Collective Commitment Listening Tour –
As a part of The Road Ahead: A Vision for Future Success, Pitt County Schools invites families, students, and staff to participate in the upcoming PCS Collective Commitment Listening Tour. During these listening sessions, Superintendent, Dr. Steve M. Lassiter Jr. will share his vision for future success in Pitt County Schools.
Topics will include key district priorities, initiatives, and goals, such as strengthening academic programs, enhancing technology in the classroom, and improving social-emotional learning. Additionally, the discussion will address attendance area growth, student achievement, mental health for students and staff, and teacher recruitment and retention.
PCS will hold the sessions in the auditorium or lecture hall of the attendance area high schools on the following dates from 6:00 – 7:30 pm:

Thursday February 6 – North Pitt High School
Tuesday February 18 – D.H. Conley High School
Thursday February 20 – Farmville Central High School
Thursday February 27 – South Central High School
Tuesday March 25 – J.H. Rose High School
