Six years ago, a Pitt County parent was determined that parent voices have more of a place in our local public schools. That parent was Kathy Herring. With the help of a group of like-minded local residents, the Pitt County chapter of the national nonprofit organization Parents for Public Schools was founded.

Over the years Kathy’s passion for public education advocacy has continued to grow, and two years ago, she agreed to serve on the board for National Parents for Public Schools. Recently, she accepted the role of President of the national board of directors. We are so proud that not only does Pitt County benefit from Kathy’s amazing leadership, but PPS chapters all over the United States now have the opportunity to reap the rewards of her passion and dedication. Thank you for your tireless efforts and service to public education, Kathy!
