You may have heard a lot of talk recently about the State Superintendent of Education. Unlike our local district superintendent, who is hired by the Board of Education, the State Superintendent is elected by the citizens of the North Carolina (YOU!).  Although Parents for Public Schools of Pitt County does not endorse any candidate running for office, we can provide information about candidates to help you make an informed decision. We are proud to announce that we will be co-hosting a State Superintendent forum with Action4Equity, a Winston-Salem based organization focused on equity in education.

The forum will be held on Thursday February 20 at 6:30pm at Wake Forest University and is open to the public.  Each candidate will answer questions related to equity and education. The forum will also be available via live stream (check our FB page). Additionally, several PPS members plan to gather in the United Way of Pitt County Board Room for a watch party. We encourage you to visit the Parents for Public Schools of Pitt County Facebook page and register for the watch party event. We hope you’ll attend!
