Pitt County Schools have seen a lot of traffic in their hallways lately, and that traffic has been from many of YOU! We are in our third season of a spring tour series, a time when families across Pitt County are encouraged to tour one or more of the 37 Pitt County Schools in order to determine which school is the best fit for them.
In the past 3 weeks, more than 255 tours have been taken within Pitt County Schools, and the response has been nothing but positive. One tour participant, Alice Richman, has been touring schools in search of the perfect fit for her rising kindergarten son. She says that “the tours provided a great overview of the school and really helped me to choose the right school for my son.” She also told us that she encourages anyone considering their school options to take a tour, as the tours really help identify the right fit for your child. If we think about the past three tour seasons, we have partnered with Pitt County Schools for almost 500 tours!
Mary Briggs Elliott was one of the first to take advantage of the PPS-PC school tours program. Her family was considering buying a house and wanted to make sure they bought in an area where they love the school. She says that touring schools made the decision about where to send her son for first grade easy, and now her rising kindergarten student will begin attending the same school in the fall. When asked what advice she would give other parents considering a tour, Elliott said, ” Please, please, go on a tour! You will learn so much about the school and the staff, and experience it all firsthand!” She says her tour allowed her the opportunity to see school staff interacting with children, and she could tell that staff knew all of the children on a personal basis.
