PCS Principal and Assistant Principal of the Year Winners Announced

The winners were announced on October 16th at the annual Principal and Assistant Principal of the Year celebration banquet sponsored by Pitt County Farm Bureau at Rock Springs Center. 

Principal of the Year – Dr. Michael Casey, Ayden Elementary School

Assistant Principal of the Year – Mandy Rogister, Chicod School

Congratulations to the Principal of the Year Finalists – Dr. Paul Briney, Wintergreen Schools and Jeremiah Miller, Farmville Middle School

October is National Principals month. The district shined the spotlight throughout October on the incredible leaders who guide Pitt County Schools every single day. From creating safe, welcoming environments to inspiring both students and teachers, principals are the heart of our schools. Thank you to all school principals for their remarkable leadership. Don’t miss out on an opportunity to spread the love for principals! 

School Tours

Parents for Public Schools of Pitt County is grateful for the partnership with Pitt County Schools to provide school tours. The final tour of the 2025 Community Leader School Tour Series is on November 6th at J.H. Rose High School. Community and business leaders have had an opportunity to tour Pitt County Schools Early College High School, H.B. Sugg & Sam D. Bundy Elementary Schools, Chicod School and Wellcome Middle School so far as a part of the 2025 Community Leader Tour Series. 

The 2026 Spring School Tour Series, the 10th annual spring school tour series, will include tours at each Pitt County School during the month of February and first two weeks of March. Tour dates and times will be announced early in January. 

Family Tours occur throughout the year on an as needed basis. If your business or organization is working with a family who is considering or planning on moving to Pitt County, PPSPC is happy to talk with any family about public school options in Pitt County as well as to assist with coordinating school tours to help families find a good educational fit for their children. 

Public Schools 101 Workshop

On Friday October 17th PPS-PC, in partnership with the Pitt County Educational Foundation, hosted a Public Schools 101 Workshop for business and community leaders. Participants learned about a variety of topics during the workshop including about great things happening in Pitt County Schools, how public schools are governed and funded at the federal, state and local levels, challenges ahead for public schools, why public schools matter and how business and community leaders can help support public schools. PPSPC plans to offer the Public Schools 101 workshop several times each year.
