PPS-PC is excited to announce upcoming Parent Engagement Program (PEP) opportunities during the 2025-26 school year including the 2025-26 PEP Cohort, the 2025-26 Spanish PEP Cohort and the annual Kindergarten 101 PEP Workshops.
During the 2024-25 school year the 2024-25 PEP Cohort met once a month from September – April. In February 2025 the inaugural Spanish PEP Cohort in Pitt County met for the first time. A PEP Celebration on May 13th brought together participants from the 2024-25 PEP Cohort as well as the 2025 Spanish PEP Cohort. Since the first PEP Cohort met in 2014-15 cohorts have met every other year. Because the Parent Engagement Program meets such an important need PPS-PC has been considering options to expand PEP opportunities in Pitt County including offering PEP more often and making it accessible to more people. Starting with the upcoming school year PEP Cohorts will meet annually including a Spanish PEP Cohort where the program will be offered entirely in Spanish.
PEP is open to parents and other community members who want to strengthen public schools in Pitt County. The PEP program provides data-driven, customized training that authentically engages parents and improves schools in the process. By working with school administrators and teachers, our participants will reduce barriers to learning and bring the community into the process of strengthening schools. The PEP Cohorts during the upcoming school year will also include engagement experiences such as attending a school tour, going to a PTA/PTO/Booster meeting, attending a title 1 event, attending a district wide event and attending a school board meeting.
The 2025-26 PEP Cohort will meet the 2nd Wednesday of each month, September – April, from 8:30 am – 1:00 pm.
The 2025-26 Spanish PEP Cohort will meet the 2nd Thursday of each month, September – April, from 10:30 am – 1:30 pm.
Kindergarten 101 Workshops will be offered in January including an evening workshop on Tuesday January 27th 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm and a morning workshop on Thursday January 29th 9:00 am – 11:00 am. There will also be a Spanish Kindergarten 101 the last week of January.
