Celebrating 10 Years of Spring School Tours in Pitt County!
Looking Back: 2024–2025 School Year
- PPS-PC, in partnership with Pitt County Schools, hosted over 50 school tours.
- More than 500 participants joined—including families, community leaders, and new residents.
- The 2025 Spring School Tour Series alone welcomed over 400 people into schools.
Coming Soon: 2026 Spring School Tour Series
- Marks the 10th annual Spring School Tour Series!
- Runs from January 28 – March 11, 2026.
- 40 tours scheduled across Pitt County Schools.
- Additional dates will be added if spots fill up.

Why School Tours Matter
School tours provide families with authentic, inside-the-school experiences:
- Meet school staff and explore each school’s unique strengths.
- Support transitions for children entering kindergarten, middle school, or high school.
- Explore Open Enrollment options: In 2025–2026, 24 schools were open enrollment schools. Tours help families explore multiple options.
- Highlight benefits of public schools: Many families considering transitioning from private, charter, or home schools choose public schools after attending tours.
Open Enrollment Timeline for Upcoming School Year
- The Open Enrollment list for 2026–2027 will likely be approved at the February Board of Education meeting.
- Applications open around March 1, 2026.
- The tour series concludes before the end of the initial two-week enrollment window, giving families time to tour schools before applying.
Tour Details
- Led by school staff.
- Last 45–60 minutes.
- Photo ID required for check-in at the main office.
- Children welcome—families are encouraged to attend together!
