Pitt County Schools (PCS) is beginning the exciting journey of developing our next five-year strategic plan, which will guide our district’s priorities and direction beginning in June/July 2026. While that may seem far away, the work to design a meaningful and inclusive plan starts now — and we want our community to be part of every step.
What Is a Strategic Plan?
A strategic plan acts as a roadmap that outlines our direction as a district. It details how we will reach our goals and measure success along the way. This plan helps make sure that every decision we make, from classroom teaching to community partnerships, supports our common vision for student achievement and well-being.
Strategic plans are vital because they:
- Set clear goals and priorities for improvement.
- Ensure that resources are used effectively and fairly.
- Encourage accountability through measurable outcomes.
- Bring our schools, staff, families, and community together around a common purpose.
How We’re Developing the Plan
This fall and winter, PCS is collecting feedback from students, staff, parents, and community partners through focus groups and surveys. These discussions will help us understand what is working well, what challenges we face, and what our community hopes for the future of our schools.
With this input, our planning team will identify key themes and start developing goals that reflect the needs and wishes of our community. We will share draft priorities publicly before finalizing the plan in 2026 to ensure transparency and collaboration.
How You Can Get Involved
We believe the best plans are made with the community, not just for the community. In the coming weeks, Pitt County Schools will launch a Strategic Plan Survey for parents, staff, students, and community members.
Your feedback will be crucial in shaping the next chapter of our district’s story. Together, we can create a strategic plan that shows our shared commitment to excellence and opportunity for every student in Pitt County.
