Biography:
My name is Melinda Fagundus and I am running for re-election for the Board of Education, District 8. I am originally from northern West Virginia but have lived in North Carolina for 37 years. I retired from Vidant Medical Center after 30 years working as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner. I still work supplemental in the NICU at Vidant Medical Center.
I have 2 children who have graduated from Pitt County Schools and currently have a junior attending J. H. Rose High School. I have been an active volunteer at Wahl-Coates, Elmhurst, and Eastern Elementary Schools while my children were students there as well as CM Eppes Middle School and J.H. Rose High School.
I am an active member of Jarvis Memorial UMC and support various ministries in the community. I have been a Girl Scout Leader for 12 years and volunteer at 4-H camp in WV every summer. I am a proud graduate of the PEP program. One of my objectives on the board is to provide a quality education for all students. I would like to see a further expansion of our CTE program and be sure that all students have the opportunity to achieve their dreams no matter their background. I represent those who live in District 8 on the ballot but in my mind, I represent all students, staff and families in Pitt County.
