Early Childhood Development PEP
ECD PEP is designed to help participants understand how the early building blocks of learning begin with healthy brain development. ECD PEP works with parents, caregivers, and family members to ensure a healthy start for young children, as well as preparing parents to be effective education partners with their children’s schools.
The next ECD PEP Cohort will meet from 9:00 – 11:30 on September 17th, October 1st, October 15th and October 29th. PCS Superintendent Transition
Dr. Lenker announced on March 4th that he was retiring effective July 31st. Since 2013 Dr. Lenker has served as the Superintendent of Pitt County Schools. Thank you to Dr. Lenker for all that you have done for Pitt County Schools and the larger Pitt County community throughout your tenure. Best of luck in the next chapter of your retirement.
Dr. Steve Lassiter will serve as Pitt County Schools Interim Superintendent, effective August 1, 2024. Dr. Lassiter will serve as interim superintendent on a month-by-month basis to ensure the promotion meets the needs of the school system and community. The Board’s goals in taking this path are to provide a smooth leadership transition when a well-qualified candidate with deep ties to Pitt County Schools can be promoted internally, and to offer a candidate who has spent most of his career in education serving PCS the opportunity to lead the system with a judgment to be made by the November, 2024 Board meeting on whether Dr. Lassister becomes the permanent superintendent. Dr. Lassister has held previous roles with Pitt County Schools for a collective 15 years including as a teacher, assistant principal, principal and most recently as assistant superintendent for education programs and services.
